Take "Madbull" Sleepy John Estes, give him the ethics of Elliot Ness and you have, Singham. Action Masala has swiftly become one of my favorite genres of film.

Redline is not the Akira of the new millennium. That's fine; It wasn't intended to be. The real appeal of Redline lies in its amazing style, visuals and a very 1980's / 1990's attention to detail. The film is not meant to be a throwback to the Anime of the 1980's & 90's; It's an inherently modern production. But it's appeal lies in the fact that what is delivered is what got many old-school fans into Anime in the first place: Outrageous "high" sci-fi.

"Whaddya mean Mugabe got re-elected!?"

Nothing spoils a masterfully tense yet exciting sword fight like two crudely animated narrators whose juvenile attempts at humour essentially spoil each and every successful scene preceding it. The idea of an anime documentary (or "doconime") is, in and of itself, a good idea. The way it was executed, however, leaves a lot to be desired.

is a great science fiction comedy and in many ways, encompassing all the attributes we miss in modern Anime.

Review: Birth

A storyline barely exists; and what little that does exist is relatively incoherent. The characterisation was cliché; even in 1984. Dialogue is sparse and there are MAJOR pacing problems.

Yet...despite these aforementioned flaws; Birth deserves its place in the Anime Hall of Fame: Not because of the veritable treasure trove of (now) famous names who worked on this: Joe Hisashi, Hideaki Anno and Yoshinori Kanada to name a few; but because of the absolutely amazing animation care of the late, great Yoshinori Kanada who would later key Animator in such small indie flicks as Akira, Castle in the Sky, Arcadia of my Youth and Kiki's Delivery Service just to name a fraction.

This episode of Anime Pacific; We discuss Maoism, Marxism and post-earthquake stupidity displayed by an alarmingly large number of people, thus highlighting the lack of a solid science education. Alex also discusses everything wrong with High-School of the Dead.

Chernobyl happened; What did people overseas do? Nothing. A relatively minor nuclear reactor leaks; What happens? Panic, panic and more panic.

We also discuss, how amazingly orderly the Japanese are when faced with a catastrophe.

Alex also mentions the upcoming Wonder Woman TV series and the recent redesign of the suit, which makes her look like some sort of Superhero member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Again, this is due to the scourge of modern media: The Compromise, or the "StarBucksinization" of the media. It's not enough to strongly appeal to one group; It must appeal to as many people as possible resulting in something that is utterly bland.

High School of the Dead is a good example of this aforementioned compromise.

Chinese Medicine

I discuss acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Now, I am well aware that a lot of alternative medicine is utter tosh. Alternative medicines such as homoeopathy or crystal healing have little to no scientific basis. There are, however, many scientifically credible accounts regarding the validity and effectiveness of many Chinese medicines.Alex, unfortunately is blinded by his utterly closed viewpoint. Chinese medicine is not a "quick fix" like modern pharmaceuticals. One does not visit the Chinese doctor when they are "sick"; Chinese doctors treat chronic conditions as opposed to preventative care that "Western" doctors are more likely to focus on. Chinese medicine also does not have the seemingly infinite range of negative side effects commonly associated with modern pharmaceuticals.

"Traditional Chinese medicine has had a long and noble history over two millennia of Asian history, and in many parts of the world it is actively practiced today. There is no question that many components of the TCM pharmacopoeia are successful in suppressing fever, reducing swelling, curing headaches, nausea, dizziness, and toothache, eliminating pain, assuaging the agony of gallstones, or easing Childbirth. TCM probably cannot cure cancer, heart disease, AIDS, tuberculosis, cholera, typhoid, typhus, dengue fever, influenza, measles, or chickenpox. There does not appear to be any evidence to support the claims that various substances listed in the Chinese materia medica can enhance one's virility, detect poisons, or make one live longer."

Ellis, R. (2005). Tiger bone & rhino horn: the destruction of wildlife for traditional Chinese medicine. Washington: Island Press.

Ellis delivers the argument better than I can. Yes, there is indeed outright quackery present in Chinese medicine as there is any medicine. (Remember, many consider chiropractic therapy to be utterly ridiculous.) No, I don't believe eating tiger penis has any beneficial effects; nor do most Hong Kong people, and I suspect, more than a few Mainland Chinese. Hong Kong also forbids the sale of any Chinese medicine made from an endangered species: The majority of Chinese medicine in Hong Kong consists of herbs.

Note: Whilst I doubt anyone will bother reading this, I do request that any comments be made with the above information taken into accounts. I will not respond to comments such as, "O MI GOD I CANT BELEAVE YUR EATIN TIGGER PENIS. YU SHULD GO TO JAILZ LOLZZZ". Formulate an argument with something academic or with something more substantial than hearsay.

Spring 2011

Cue the Twilight Zone music, because something eerie is afoot: This line-up actually looks surprisingly solid . We had long decided to give up doing these Anime line-ups as they were turning into a long exercise of negativity on behalf of myself and ~~the other one~~ Alex.

Anime Pacific's picks for potentially good Anime:

Showa Monogatari:

Supposedly, the first Anime directed towards senior citizens and set in the 60's.

Deadman Wonderland

Sci-fi gladiatorial combat: As I'm still on a Spartacus high, this will do nicely.

STEINS; GATE

Based off a game; a potentially troubling sign. Plot wise however, it seems to have its hands on the pulse of Eden of the East.

Hyouge Mono

Nothing scares off punk kids like a long-winded historical Seinen drama. This is, by far, the show that I am most excited about. Having said that, I have little to no doubt that anyone will even consider subbing this. I'm sure all the new loli shows will have 200,000 groups clamouring to be the first to sub them.

Appleseed XIII

I am not a fan of the recent Appleseed films. Whilst the second one was much better than its predecessor, I believe the 80's OVA to be far superior. However, as Alex rightly pointed out, one does get a "Cool Japan" 90's vibe when looking at the poster.

X-Men

Much like how Lotte no Omocha! typifies everything that is wrong with Japanese animation, the 90's X-Men cartoon typified everything that is wrong with American animation. Actions scenes galore, but several minutes wasted per episode to show how each and ever soldier had time to get out of their respective tanks or jets before they exploded. Each and every fallen enemy had to be shown to be getting up. (Nervous Producer wiping brow: "LOOK PARENTS - NOBODY DIED. SEE! SEE!") A potentially good story, utterly ruined by its utterly transparent pandering to moral alarmists.

I believe this new X-Men anime will satisfy in the action department. However, thus far Madhouse's (my favourite studio) Marvel offerings thus far have been good; Sometimes very good. But now, more than ever, that's not enough. We may never get something that could entice so many new Anime fans ever again. Let us hope that the third time's the charm.

Review: Genius Party

Genius Party, from a technical perspective is almost flawless. (Emphasis on the word, almost.) The content, however, varies greatly. Shoji Kawamori and Shinichiro Watanabe are geniuses: We get that. Hideki Futamura? What has he done to be considered a genius? His "Limit Cycle" is by far, the worst of the bunch, incidentally. Listen to the podcast to hear our full review. We will also have a look at Genius Party Beyond at some stage.

Mini-Review: Shin Getter Robo Armageddon

Shin-Getter Robo Armageddon suffers in that it lacks what the original TV series had: A SENTIENT DINOSAUR EMPIRE.

Yet its heart is in the right place: Abandon all logic, ye who enter here. Shin Getter Robo Armageddon appeals to the eternally eight-year-old part of the brain present in each and everyman. It also served as something of a swan-song to a genre in decline. Wonderfully animated 2D (emphasis on 2D) Mecha shows are a rarity in these days, where the anime industry has a notable absence of skilled mecha designers; Most of which skipped ship to the much more profitable (and higher paying) video game industry.

Toyoo Ashida: Why don't you direct more?

Directed by one of my favourite Anime directors and Madhouse veteran: Toyoo Ashida, The Ultimate Teacher works almost solely due to Ashida's ability in directing with the proverbial straight face. At first glance some may ask why the veteran director of such classics as Hokuto No Ken and Vampire Hunter D, would be a suitable choice to direct something that is blatantly a zany comedy yet is audacious enough to demand you to take it seriously at times? Theirein lies Ashida's genius: The Anime film and television adaptations of Hokuto No Ken walked the fine line of letting you laugh and / or cry, guilt-free.

Review: Sanctuary

It would be cliché to say that they just don't make Manga like this anymore; and it's not true anyway: The same team, Sho Fumimura (Aka Buronson!) and artist Ryoichi Ikegami are working on popular Crime Manga, Heat. Which is currently being scanlated.

Immaculately well written; Sanctuary's greatest accomplishment is its perfect synergy in its depiction of both Japanese politics and the underworld; the nature of which seems interchangeable, and often are.

Yet on a deeper level, it addresses the problem, which is still very much a problem: the repression of the young and Japan's fear of change. Unfortunately, given what has happened in the decades following Santuary's creation, the events in Sanctuary could best be viewed as a (mostly) optimistic historical "what-if".

Long out of print, Santuary is still obtainable if you hunt for it; Naturally it has also been scanlated.

Anime Industry Deaths of 2010

It's alarming how many pivotal figures in the Anime industry have died in the last few months. Upon examining these figures and their causes of death we learnt several things:

* The animation industry is full of smokers
* Smoking is BAD FOR YOU.

Carl Macek (1951 - 2010)

Carl Macek: the Anime pioneer. Looking back at Streamline picture's anime library, they housed some of my favorite anime titles of all time. Whilst dub-only, their dubs are still far superior to what we have today.

Peter Fernandez (1927 - 2010)

Another early contributor to English speaking Anime, Peter Fernandez was actively involved in the animation fan community until his death.

Satoshi Kon (1963 - 2010)

One of the only remaining rays of sunshine, in an otherwise cloudy Anime industry. Of all mentioned here, Kon's death will have the greatest rippling effect on the anime industry as it stands now. Unlike the others on this list, Kon had several potential decades left in him.

Yoshinobu Nishizaki (1934-2010)

Yoshinobu Nishizaki's life was perhaps best summarized by Al Pacino's wonderful performance in the semi-biographical film, Scarface. [citation needed] (They toned down the use of automatic firearms and cocaine in the film).

Before his tragic death aboard the Yamato (That, I did not make up), "The Nish" was perhaps best known as the co-creator of..well.. Space Battleship Yamato.

The Nish's West Cape Corporation, before it went belly up, brought us such classics as Urotsukidoji and "Freakin'" Odin!

Shojuro Yamauchi (19?? - 2010)

Key animator for a lot of the classics, his pen shall be missed. He deserves a place in history for the The Castle of Cagliostro, alone.

Takeshi Shudo (1949 - 2010)

One of the Anime "fathers" of Pokemon and more importantly, Gold Lightan The only Mecha that doubles as a cigarette lighter. Ironically, he died in an airport smoking room due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage, something in which smoking contributes greatly to the risk factor of it occurring. Damn you, Lightan!

Peter Keefe (1952 - 2010)

Just based off of this picture alone, I love this guy. He can largely be attributed to Voltron (the Golion butcher job) and Dragonball Z's overseas success. More importantly, he single handily averted the world from chaos and ushered in a new era of global peace and prosperity with his creation of Denver the Last Dinosaur. This further facilitated First Contact, as upon viewing Denver the Last Dinosaur, extra-terrestrial life had decided that humanity had demonstrated it's worthiness in being propelled to the galactic stage.

Denver was one of the few American shows that were broadcast in mainland China throughout the 1980's.

Clocking in at 12 minutes, it does double duty as an introduction/trailer for new fans of the show, and a "Best of" clip show, sure to jog the memories of long time fans.

With the Anime Pacific Feed now fixed, this show will show up as "Episode 0" in itunes, before Episode 4.

Dane has plans to make a "Best of" review show/trailer along these lines.

We realize, it is too long to be a commercial for other podcasts, but if someone out there perhaps wouldn't mind tacking it on the end of one of their podcasts, we would be grateful. Trying to synthesize the myriad of topics we discuss in this episode into shownotes would be, quite frankly, madness.

Suffice it to say, it is not exactly a normal episode. However, bear in mind that at the time of this episode's recording, my apartment was a bombshell of half packed boxes, disassembled furniture and ~~dead hookers~~ plastic bags. As a matter of fact, I'll most likely be moving to my new apartment as you listen to this.

Perhaps as a prelude to my upcoming Hong Kong cinema podcast, I rant about what I perceive to be the death of Hong Kong cinema.

For some now-forgotten reason, we discuss, "The Patriot", undoubtedly one of the worst films of all time. Funnily enough, the one scene I recall as being utterly vomit inducing is actually all over Youtube, thanks to Americans who are utterly moved to tears by it:

Analysis Review: The Rance Franchise

The Rance series, is something of a goliath. It is the longest running eroge game series in existence. Rance himself carries a similar prestige in the adult gaming world that the lovable Larry Laffer does in the English speaking world.

This is Larry Laffer. Whilst rather sleazy on the surface, he is effect, utterly harmless and a rather nice fellow. His need to "chase tail" stems from the fact that he was a rather repressed nerd earlier in life and suddenly experienced a "second puberty" in his late forties. Try as you might, it's impossible to dislike the guy.

This is Rance. He owns a slave called Sill, who for some reason, loves him. He is driven by the need for constant sexual arousal and will get it anyway possible. His non sexual hobbies include, slapping his slave around and taunting her. Females are merely trophies to him. He is incapable of maintaining proper relationships with males or anyone he foresees having no immediate or future sexual encounters with. He treats most men with outright hostility and has been known to kill without mercy, justified or not. This beckons the question:

Is Rance the personification of the collective mindset of obsessed, shut-in Hentai gamers?

Or is he merely an unrepentant douche?

The Rance games have been churned out on a semi regular basis since 1989; The most recent being "Sengoku Rance", which has been fan translated into English. The game itself, as a strategy, game is rather fun; addictive even. One of the perceived initial strengths was that it attempted to set a moral precedent with it's apparent anti loli stance. However, one brief loli-esque scene put that theory flat on its back.

Rance: The Anime

The Anime is much more harmless. It is more of an "American Pie"-esque parody than anything else. It does get points for having some genuinely hilarious scenes. The unexpected tentacle scene alone is worth the ~~price of admission~~ time for downloading.

Review: Spice & Wolf II

If Darker than Black is a hyper concentrated gallon of Red Bull, then Spice & Wolf II is a soothing cup of Chamomile tea or hot chocolate. Here's the thing, men do like romance when it is depicted as something genuine and organic. The improved graphics of the second season help seal the deal: The world is beautifully realized and utterly immersive.

In some ways, each town, its characters and challengers is akin to a thinking man's Shounen fighting arc.

Overall, fantastic!

Now, I'm finally into fashion. Note, although this picture is meant to look "guerrilla", I have a sinking suspicion that this is a Japanese AV actress looking at her own videos. (Kind of a promotional shot)

We also discuss how the publishers of the English "Spice and Wolf" novels have de-manga-fied the book cover in order to widen their potential audience, despite the vast amount of cartoons attempting to copy the Manga/Anime style of drawing.

How do they do this, you may ask? By putting a naked character on the front. Now, no one is going to be embarrassed to buy it!

Alex has a similar problem with his beloved Gor novels.

In fact, almost every Gor result that turned up in Google images was somewhat embarrassing.

Mini-Review: ~~Last Order~~ The First Squad

Yes, it's that bad that I actually completely forgot the name of the show, mistakingly calling it "The Last Order". This Russian-Studio 4oC co-production is terrible. Let me reiterate, terrible. In fact, my incoherent mini-review is the very definition of coherency when compared to this mess. Ok, in a nutshell:

To resurrect your fallen comrades, you need to wait for "A time of truth", which is essentially explained as, "A time where crazy shit happens"; more or less. Now, you might be asking, how to resurrect aforementioned comrades?

That's easy!

First, use an atmospheric diving suit to go to the other side.
Second, convince your reluctant friends to come back.
Third, go through the ghost train in your local afterlife carnival.
Fourth, buy some semi-automatic weapons from ghost salesman.
Fifth, you're resurrected. Completely corporeal and automatic weapons included!

Unfortunately, the Nazi's have discovered how to do this resurrection stuff too, and decide to resurrect some medieval Germanic Crusaders.

Note, despite studio 4oC's track record with fantastic animation, all the well animated parts are pretty much restricted to what is depicted in the trailer. The rest is nothing to write home about.

Giving up on the Star Crossed Anime Blog?

Dane and Alex (mostly Alex) complain about the Star Crossed Anime Blog (link). Having been the "go-to" place for us to know what to watch for the past couple years, we have now decided that we need to find something else.

Why? We don't have all the time in the world to watch Anime. We need a couple very solid recommendations for each season.

But at the Star Crossed Anime Blog, every show is good or excellent! Yet somehow the first season of Darker than Black (Alex's Favorite anime in years) gets ignored!

We talk about how watching a Star Crossed recommendation (which is everything, since everything seems to be good there) is very hit or miss.

Alex has been keeping an eye on Hanners' Anime Blog (link) to see if it gives any better advice.

Review: Macross Frontier

Yet again, I review an anime which has offical huggable pillow releases.

Alex actually bailed when he discovered that Klan Klang, the buxom Zentradi pilot turns into a "Kawaii" little cutie when micronized.

Overall, it's Macross, love it or hate it. I for one, love Macross in all its shapes and forms. (Yes, even Macross 7) Unfortunately, Macross Frontier does suffer from an overly large cast which would have felt right at home in a 39 episode TV series, ala Macross * Macross 7. For a 26 episode series, some characters just don't get a change to develop. I do appreciate that Alto Saotome, the main character is depicted (at least aesthetically) in a deliberately effeminate fashion, yet has more cojones than most teenage mecha pilots depicted in Anime. Was this contrast deliberate?

Alex pleasures himself, furiously, whilst praising the novel, Gardens of the Moon; So much so that I actually had to cut the bulk of what he had to say out of the actual review, as he kept interfering with my review so as to make "just one more" masturbatory comment about it.

What has saved studio Gonzo? Pandering to Moe of course! Here's a huggable pillow containing a character who is 10 years old; oh Gonzo!

Regardless, it is directed by Koichi Chigira, director of the rather fantastic, Brave Story and much of the same team. In short: Fantastic first season which manages to balance, humour (retro gamers will appreciate it), drama, action and emotion. The second season suffers to a certain extent as it eschews much of the humour that made the first season so delightful as well as changing the tower dungeon crawling setting, so associated with the retro dungeon crawlers, to a more metaphysical journey. But ultimately, gratifying as when taken as a whole.

Hi fellows! Thanks for making ANIPAC a success! The first episode was released to NO promotion whatsoever and already has around 300 downloads. That's about half of Anime Pacific in its prime, but considering that I didn't really promote ANIPAC, it is a pleasant suprise that so many of you decided to check it out.

I do wonder how many of you actually visit ANIPAC however. As it seems that our downloads skyrocket when I announce it over here at Anime Pacific!
If you check the latest post at ANIPAC, you can see some pictures of my lovely little daughter!

This post is basically a heads up as I recorded what could be best described as an "audio diary".

TIME GAL

I've long beseeched listeners and friends alike to show more love to the classic animes, and I now realize that I myself have been missing out on a piece of the retro anime pie; Laserdisc games!

One such game is TIME GAL, a laserdisc game from the 80's when pretty much every company jumped on the post-Dragon's Lair laserdisc game bandwagon.

TIME GAL was animated by none other than TOEI, and whilst It's not a "show" in the traditional sense, it's beautiful 80's design should be rememebered and admired.

That and the possible endings, or "deaths" of TIME-GAL could easily compete with the Space Quest series in sheer hilarity and quantitiy.

We haven't forgotten you, Time Gal!

Review: Genmu Senki Leda (The Fantastic Adventure of Yohko)

Grab the DVD iso from the fantastic, Asian DVD Club.

From someone who doesn't even drink coffee, this Anime sure is "trippy". An animated visual treat from the more experimental 80's; Genmu Senki Leda surely couldn't be made in the risk-adverse times we live in, and that's where it's charm lies. Sure, it's far from perfect and the story is a little weak, but we forgive many of it's flaws simply because it is what it is.

Review: Dororo

Grab it at Asian DVD Club

Osama Tezuka's classic, set in the Sengoku period of Japan, was filmed in a quasi-historical setting and filmed in New Zealand. Which beckons the question; Why? It would have been actually easier to keep it closer to the source material.

Did I like it? Yes. At it's best, it's an entertaining film. At it's worst, it's slightly clumsy and ineffective.

The direction, special effect, music and action range from fantatic to inept and ineffective at the worst of times.

Regardless, it was a huge hit in Japan and two more films are on the way.

Oh look, how quaint! A Negro has taken a break from Ghetto life (most likely in South-Central LA) and managed to pinch enough purses to afford a trip to Japan. He's obviously not a businessman, like all his tie wearing white counterparts, but I'm sure he's tagged along with them to make a few yen shining shoes. Notice the one hand in his mouth, no doubt licking his fingers to savour the last lingering taste of fried chicken that he no doubt ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Racism is of course, the child of ignorance; Further up the family tree, we have stupidity. I'm assuming the depictions here are the former. But it's sad that stereotypes such as these are still prevelant.

I think I've found the reason for our spike in female listeners.

First, apologies! I never supplied the link to Star Crossed Anime Blog like I promised. However, I'm sure any remotely sentient being would have just typed "Star Crossed Anime" in google.

Review: Macross 7

It seems no other fans in existence are as divided as as Macross 7 fans.

The beauty of this review is not so much the anime that I'm talking about, but the spectacular way in which I completely ruin in, much to Alex's delight. Whilst this is by far, my worst review yet, it's also the most entertaining.

Anyone remember Shenmue?

Just one of many games that made the Sega Dreamcast, the best gaming console ever, at least in my opinion.

Sega's Ryu Ga Gotoku, known overseas as "Yakuza" is the spiritual succesor to Shenmue, and an all around fantastic game. (Actually based on a popular novel series)

For anyone who might appreciate this, the infamous Takashi Miike (who directed the live action Koroshiya which was revied a few episodes back)
is directing the live action adaptation to Yakuza. Not only that, but the look of the characters is modelled after the fantastic computer game.

Review: Paprika

How on earth does one explain the inexplicable? We have no idea but it's sure amusing to watch us bumbling through. Satashi Kon can do no wrong, that's for sure and it's a fantastic film.

Also noteworthy is the wonderful soundtrack by Susumu Hirasawa.

Review: Koroshia-1 (Ichi The Killer Manga)

Our first Manga Review!

If you have the stomach for it, get it here.

Hideo Yamamoto's masterpiece. Here's a picture of the diety in question.

Koroshiya-1, defies description, or even a completely coherent review. Banned in several prefectures across Japan and later adapted into (inferior) two live action films, and a relatively successful prequel anime OVA.

Koroshiya-1 does not succeed because of it's shock value, it succeeds because of the sheer brazen approach and complete audacity of it's story-telling.

Ichi, is the ultimate sadist. A rather pathetic child-like character with a rape fetish who becomes a crybaby killer when manipulated into thinking that the people he is killing are his high school bullies who raped a girl who tried to stand up for him in front of his very eyes. The repressed sexual feelings from that incident, on top of the rage Ichi carries inside from being bullied results in Ichi going into a trance like killing state which ends once he ejaculates. Who on earth would dare to write about his besides Hideo Yamamoto?

Koroshiya-1 also features one of the most memorable villains in the history of anime or manga; Kakihara. The ultimate Masochist.

The "Twins", the most vile, misogynistic characters put to paper.

Both the Manga and it's central character are extremely well written; It is not simply a shock manga, much like Miike's live adaptation was. However, this is absolutely not for the faint of heart. I cannot stress that enough!

Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles Sequel

Geeks in their basement are baking pies as we speak.

For some reason, Alex starts discussing how he is re watching Gatchaman, and how he feels about it now, he's seen it uncut as an adult.

3D CGI Film from the Appleseed production team

I don't even remember what it's called. It's about some sort of infiltration into
a future isolationist Japan. Whilst the geeky possibilities of that synopsis reeks
of awesomeness, Appleseed was a rather large disappointment for me. I'm expecting a film with lots of "bullet time-Matrix-esque action scenes" and not a lot of substance.

Review: Moonlight Mile

Alex is a space geek. This show is written by a space geek. The producers are sex-maniacs. I can hear ADV's cash registers "ka-chinking" as we speak.

Definitely a must buy!

This is definitely an in-depth review, as we can expect from Alex. However, it's more than a review. It's an in-depth commentary on the role of space in the modern world, the role of the space program and the dreams that the infinite frontier of the cosmos have brought to the pioneer living in each of us.

Wrap-Up / Mail

We discuss a letter sent to us by the always lovely, Watcher-Angel, who has weathered our low brow misogynistic jokes, childish gay humor and long rants. We love you, WatcherAngel!

....That old saying is more relevant now than any other episode. Clocking in at the dreaded 2 hour mark, we're falling into old habits.

I was also severely distracted whilst doing my review and this results in quite a lot of the dreaded "dead air" which was edited down, somewhat but most likely, not nearly enough.

Alex spends about 10 minutes speaking about the parrot from Aladdin.
This segment often made me wonder how Alex ~~actually managed to get laid~~
didn't think of the ingenious idea of speaking about American comedians in an Anime podcast before.

Review: Robot Carnival

I was a little bit sick and also subsequently distracted during this review, and as such, it doesn't feature that "zang" that I wanted it to. Beware of the dreaded "dead air".

A gorgeous-looking experiment from a time when Japan could afford aforementioned
experiments. Some of the greats in Anime show their skills in what has been dubbed "Anime's Fantasia".

DVD ISO Fansub can be found here. (This has never been officially released on DVD
and the VHS is currently out of print, it's well worth the long download)
