Episode 63: Setting the record straight...

Download episode 63 here.

Shootin' The Breeze

We "set the record straight", and you'll find out that the real reason ANIPAC is coming to a close is actually quite boring as opposed to us having a whine over the direction of our show:

School and work. The typical "last podcast" reason we here oh so many times.

We also talk about our "podcasting standards".

Mini Review: Shigarui

If this can make it to TV, then Ichi The Killer has a chance! (However tiny that chance may be)

First Episode preview: to love る(POO RU)

This show has one purpose: Easily, accesible masturbation aid for 13-year-olds who are unable to get access to pornogrophy because "Mommy" has installed "Netnanny" on the computer.

Watch the OP, not the show.

It's a wrap!

Well be back, yet again! Episode 64 may or may not be the final episode. If it is not, then Episode 65 shall be. We'll make it worthwhile.

I do, in fact, still listen to the show. It's just that I only email or comment when I want to bring up a point or correct you guys on something. Since I haven't done that in a while just means you guys have been doing a great job since last we spoke.

Love Ru(Ro?) looks like garbage and I can't wait to ignore it. Oh, wait. I am!

When the show goes off-air, I'll be cracking open a bottle of whiskey in your honor. I'll miss the constant bickering, snarky opinions and great reviews.

I'll send an mp3 in the net day or so for the last show.

Laters.

Hey there Eeeper! I'm glad you still listen; Really glad in fact. We've always appreciated your support and kind words.

I do plan to keep a presence on the internet, in fact definitely. It's just a matter of what form that presence will be.

Naturally I'll keep listening to your show; I'm really looking forward to the show you're doing with Gerald.

Dane I dont think it would be such a bad thing to do a monthly show, think about it once a month do a two hour show.
Also perhaps you could put up solo mini reviews once and a while. It sucks you guys are closing shop I love your show, are you sure you want to do this? you could work it out somehow.

Dane Scaysbrook said...

Well that's definitely something we could consider, I'd like to see what people think regarding what we do next.

However, some new project would probably be a few months down the line as things are going to get mega busy for me soon until after the summer.

Before we know it the show only going to be 20 minutes long next week.

Alex said...

well, in order to get the show out on time, we had to record the show only three days after recording the last one. Hence, a shorter show.

Dane Scaysbrook said...

What? The show was about 50 minutes; We've had shorter! And this was not due to any laziness on our part, do remember that as we mentioned at the start of the episode that it had only been three days since our previous recording, there was not much stuff we could have watched, or any big news events that could have happened in that short space of time.

Alex actually suggested that we wait until next week for the episode as we didn't have that much to say, but I insisted for the very fact that I did not want us to appear like we were winding down, the very reason being (and judging by the previous pst, a valid reason) that we're under the microscope now; one minute shorter or anything slightly half-assed and then we're accused of not caring about the show or just "phoning it in". That is very much so, not the case.

Essentially, future developments left us with two options, continue the show in a chaotic format with episodes coming out God knows when, or finish the show on a relatively high note. Due to the very fact that we always have held ourselves to certain standards, we chose the latter.

Now, on another note, Golgo 13 is indeed out and let me pitch it to you this way:

The closing credits feature manga-esque shots of Golgo 13 at his best, two of which are him banging a women, screaming with pleasure (this is the freaking credits!)

I'm glad to see that judging by this episode, the character has not been watered down. Yes, it's totally not politcally correct; but that's it's selling point!

I was talking about how you guys are quitting the show sooner or later so since a shorter show.

Alex said...

I could see how you would think that, but honestly, even if we were not wrapping up the show, we honestly didn't have much else content. As Dane said, I even suggested waiting another week since I didn't really have anything to bring up.

(Shit the comment didnt ad so now ill rewrite it slightly shorter.)

Havnt listened to the show yet but i dont really know when ill have the time so ill comment now right away.

It will be sad to see you go. Your the greatest podcast around. Only greatest movie ever and AWO comes even close. But not that close.

It would be great if you just changed pacing, like bi-weekly or monthly. None of us fans would care about such things.
Also, if you started editing less, im sure most listeners wouldnt mind at all.

Anyways, good luck with whatever the future holds.

Jesus fuck! I watch the original Macross for a few days, and the comments go wild!

Well I'm finished Macross now!
So back to the podcast listening! And also gotta finish makin' that send off clip show I was talking to you(Dane) about! (until my Macross Plus-Zero "ebay" packages "arrive")

Once again, I'd love for you guys to at least do a podcast once a month... But I suppose the cookie isn't going to crumble the way me, and my "Brother from another Mother" Mr. Strongblood would really enjoy haha.

Well, I finally got my right hand free long enough to type up a comment. I will have my revenge on you Dane and Alex, oh yes. However, you guys aren't giving me nearly enough time to come up with something good.

I'll echo the sentiments in here and say it's sad to see AniPac closing shop but I admire you guys sticking to your convictions.

I'll try and send something in for the last episode but that won't be until Thursday (school, lols).

Until then, watch your backs, because I'll strike when you most expect it.

Regan Stongblood said...

demonoid.com is back!!!!

thank the anime gods!!!

Dane Scaysbrook said...

Thanks, Kent! You "single-handidly" made my day!

And after about 8 years of being friends with Alex, I never feel safe with back turned to anyone!

I heard about Demonoid, but I've yet to visit the new one yet. Alex was a Demonoid fan for quite a while but I was always using the ED2k network more than torrents.

Massive typhoon and rainstorm (black rain, the highest warning) went over Hong Kong during the weekend. Needless to say this affected the recording and episode 64 has been delayed a week. Rest assured however, we'll continue on with episdoe 64 and 65 per normal and I might even release some extra thing during the week just to tide you over.

ZombieToaster said...

Just listened to the show. Great tales from australia.

I have an idea. Why not make a show just about that stuff ;P

Goodness, If I did that, I'd constantly have to top myself and dig up new dark, perverted stories!

Benu said...

Alex can laugh at me all he wants, but I'm the one who just got a guest spot on a TV show!

Dane Scaysbrook said...

I haven't actually watched, "Beauty & The Geek" but I wish you all the best!

All jokes aside, do tell, do tell! Which show was it? Good for you, son!

Dane Scaysbrook said...

Ahh yes, I hear Alex's laugh; He's actually laughing at me because I called you "The first Podcaster ever", I ment to say first Anime podcaster ever!

Benu said...

"Beauty & The Geek" good one Dane. XD

Actually I have been asked to be a guest on Ramen Revolution a new TV show they started filming in my area all about anime and asian pop culture.

Dane Scaysbrook said...

Very cool, indeed!

Hope this show makes it overseas also.

Benu said...

They are going to put the show up on the net as well.

djdrastic said...

Shucks guys , it sucks that you guys are bringing the show to a close but I understand your reasons for doing it.

Thank you for all the free entertainment you have bestowed upon me.

Dane Scaysbrook said...

Thanks for the comments DrDrastic, and I'll continue to listen to your show, It's always enjoyable!

Jeff Tatarek said...

Heh, Already I can see from eeeper's first comment that this is going to turn into a long string of "but I still listen!" comments.

So I'll gladly add to it: I still listen to AniPac!

If it weren't for AniPac I wouldn't have gotten to see Wanna-be's, nor would I have bothered to check out Skull Man (okay, that's a fib--I've not actually watched it yet, but keep meaning to). And Hakaba Kitaro is pure awesome, from what I hear as well, so that's also in the mix.

Truth is, you guys are more often than not the "swing vote" for stuff that sounds interesting which I might not otherwise bother pursuing.

Dane Scaysbrook said...

Thanks Jeff,

That does indeed mean a lot to me. And it's equally good that I could convince at least one other person to check out Hakaba Kitaro, which I've been enjoying immensely!
